Old notes
Oops, this page is misnamed. It's instead about all purchasing this go-around, grouped by source. We only (typically?) request money from the SAC once per semester, hence the original name.

Proposed
[edit]
SAC
- permanent markers for CDs
- 3x non-bit screwdriver Philips (we have the electric; why bother?) (because there are some things the electric won't work for, e.g. things which require a long thin neck)
- 3x non-bit screwdriver flathead (we have the electric; why bother?) (because there are some things the electric won't work for, e.g. things which require a long thin neck)
- Fix Vera
- taniwha replacement?
- Irrelevant, AMD64 from vs.
[edit]
This is all GRO now but oh well
- For astrolabe? 2x400 GB, $130 each
- 2 MB 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, $220
- Motherboard, $237 (formerly $298)
- 2GB DDR2 ECC, $300
- 1U Case, $264
- IPMI module, $48
- $61 to spare for disks
[edit]
GRO
- disks? do we want to do that GRO backup thing? Should we just jam them on manticore? Should we just make a screencast for J-Share?
- do they actually care about us? Let's ask them for stuff before SAC and fall-back to SAC if we really need the things.
- 500 gig 7200.10 disks for astrolabe!?
- Yes.
[edit]
Bloomberg
- 2 x 100 CD-Rs
- We need blank CDs to build the bootable system image for the contest computers, both for testing and for production use.
- For a non-working Athlon system we could get going, Sempron 1.83GHz, $40
- For guu, 1 GB ECC, $145
- The computers during the contest need a file server to store people's work. We need RAM and a CPU to make a computer we already have into a usable server.
- ask them in email for spare LCD(s!?)
- Look in officers archives for Asheesh's request?
[edit]
From CS
- They don't much like to give us money, so let's avoid asking probably.
- But Dr. Scott claimed that CS would buy us things as long as we didn't ask too often...so we should look into something reasonable and do it?
