Local contest

12 teams, ~50 contestants, reserves, coaches, staff.

  • 8:30-9:00 Register the teams, give out certificates, badges, T-shirts etc.
  • 9:00-9:30 Welcome, introduction, rules, orientation
  • 9:30-11:00 Practice problem
  • 11:00-12:00 Lunch
  • 12:00-17:00 Competition
  • 17:00-18:00 Dinner
  • 18:00-18:30 Results announced and awards presented

Night before:

  • Buy 150 plates, cups, napkins (lunch and dinner and extra)

  • Buy two or three tubs cream cheese
  • Buy 2 gallons orange juice
  • Buy 12 2-liters of soda
  • Done: Albert: Check that badges are in the T-shirt box

Morning of:

  • Buy 40 bagels from e.g. New System Bakery
  • Discuss: Figure out who's saying what at rules etc. in morning
  • Return Eric's car
  • Albert: Make sure Albert is on acm-midatl-systems

Systems

  • Make new live CD
  • Albert should fix these things on the live CD
    • root password!
    • create routes to 137.45.192.40 and 137.45.192.104
    • Make clients set their hostnames correctly
  • Someone should fix these things on the NFS esrver
    • umask on home dirs
    • Sane defaults for home dirs (copy from adduser'd home dir on live contest system)
    • Have list of clients for cssh, using private key in ~officers/contest*
    • Make clients set hostname to match IP address instead of contest
  • Set up tiresias as contest server again
    • Exporting PC^2 client software and docs on /usr/local
      • Check web browser default URL, in-contest info should be there (dir is probably a symlink to /usr/local)
    • Set up NIS and accounts - print out password table
    • Check printing

  • Make user accounts, should be made in PC^2
    • team1 through team25
    • judge1

  • nano syntax highlighting

  • 7 cheese (retrospect: far too many damn cheese pizzas)

  • 2 mushroom

  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 tomato
  • 6 bottles of soda per meal should be fine (8 cups per two-liter)
  • 3 slices time 50 people is 150 slices. Divided by 8 per pizza is 18.75 pizzas; 18 should be fine....
